Please tell us a bit about your business and eSamco.
We are a Hobby and Toy wholesaler and distributor. Our office and warehouse is located in Richmond, B.C. We carry products from over 40 different manufacturers with over 10,000 different products in our catalog. We have been in business for almost 50 years.
What were some major influences behind building an online presence?
We see it as saving a lot of time for our salespeople but also creating more opportunities to showcase new products. Having our entire catalog online lets people see things they didn't know we carried; it's like a virtual showroom. It’s also about keeping up with technology; if you don't do that, you will be forgotten in my opinion. 9 times out of 10 a new customer will ask you for your website.
What has been the biggest change you’ve seen?
Definitely the time saving aspect. Customers are able to check inventory and pricing on their own anytime as well as enter orders. It’s a real benefit when most of our customers are open on the weekend and we are not, so the website is always there for them.
Has having eSamco added any extra work?
Honestly, yes but only in the short term. We have spent some time properly categorizing all of our products as well as getting pictures. That is a big job with over 10,000 items in our catalog. Once we have finished finding and taking pictures of most of our product, it will definitely save time because of the way it is linked to Samco.
Have there been any sundry benefits?
Due to our eSamco site, we have increased our exposure to our industry, as well as to the stores we sell to.
Why eSamco versus a standalone shipping cart or website?
We chose eSamco because of the compatibility with Samco Power Accounting. There is no repeating of tasks, once an item is entered into Samco, it is also in the website.
How long did it take you to get up and running?
It took about one month to get everything up the way we wanted it. I feel that is a great turnaround time for what we were trying to do.

Yes, we have nothing but compliments from our customers.
